Abstract :
Duffing equation is used in this paper to study EEG time series. Duffing equation has some special characters, such as sensitivity to weak periodic signals and immunity to some degree of random noise. Normal and epileptic electroencephalogram (EEG) signals can lead Duffing equation to show different phase states, which is utilized for epileptic seizure characterization in this paper. The results on raw EEG time series illustrate the applicability of the proposed Duffing equation based method.
