Abstract :
This article proposes two empirical models for IEEE 802.11g/n networks which aim to predict the quality loss on a video stream, based on a relationship between the proposed metric and the received power level in dBm. For such a purpose, PSNR (Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio) is used for deriving PSNR Loss, which is used as a metric. It is also proposed an adjustment in ITU-R P.1238-2 used for indoor propagation prediction, based on coverage analysis. The carried out measurements show that PSNR Loss and received power level are inversely proportional in their relationship. For finding the optimal ITU-R and Cross-Layer model parameters, linear least squares algorithm has been used. Data from measurement campaigns were used as reference to adjust both models.
