Abstract :
wMPS (workspace Measurement and Positioning System) is a new network measurement system based on multi-directional positioning using rotating laser beams. With the features of automation, high speed, high precision and wide measuring range, it has great prospect in advanced equipment manufacturing projects, especially in the assembly and positioning of large parts. The system principle was described and error propagation was analyzed with error sources in detail. An actual measuring network was set up utilizing three transmitters. The experiment results show that the overall accuracy of the system can be achieved within 0.1mm at the range of 10m.
