Abstract :
In this paper, a design methodology is introduced for determining the major system parameters of a power-split hybrid vehicle drive train. The system parameters mainly includes the engine power rating, transmission gear ratios, alternator power and proper speed-torque characteristics, traction motor power rating and battery power and energy capacities. The design target is ensuring the vehicle to meet the specified vehicle performance, such as speed and acceleration, and at the same time, operate the engine within an expected speed range and torque range.
