Abstract :
Manipulation of light on the nanoscale, as well as the control of light-matter interactions are desirable for a manifold of applications, including high sensitivity imaging and sensing applications, solar cells and novel optical devices. Here we report on the Purcell effect in a close-packed self-assembled monolayer of dye-doped dielectric nanospheres coated with a silver film. The comparison between angle resolved reflection and transmission measurements and angle-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy provides direct insights into both the spectral reshaping and the preferential directionality of the emission characteristics [1].
