Abstract :
The (1-x)Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-xPbTiO3 (PMN-PT) single crystals were investigated for various applications in medical ultrasonic transducers. PMN-PT monolithic transducer was fabricated with bandwidth at -3 dB enhanced by 34% and sensitivity enhanced by 4 dB, compared with traditional PZT transducer. The PMN-PT phased array transducer fabricated is also excellent. 1-3 piezoelectric composites using PMN-PT exhibit high thickness mode coupling factor (kt = 90.1%), and relatively low acoustic impedance (Z = 19.49 MRayls). The research work has been done indicates PMN-PT single crystal a promising application in medical ultrasonic transducers.
