Abstract
A novel method called RCP is proposed to correct for the respiratory noise in functional MRI using phase information of the complex image data. The hypothesis is that the information of the respiration-induced signal change is embedded in the phase variation, which can be measured readily. Respiratory noise is significantly reduced after the correction. The new method is compared with RETROICOR and showed comparable results. RCP is superior to RETROICOR in case the respiration deviates from being periodic. This technique is useful for correcting respiratory noise from abnormal breathing.
