Abstract
In this work, it is numerically shown that the evolution of Akhmediev breathers (ABs) in an optical fiber can also be quasistabilized in space for a properly designed fiber with longitudinally-varying profile, thus mimicking a propagating oceanic rogue wave along a changing seabed topography. The paper also discusses the experimental feasibility of implementing such a varying-topography along a photonic crystal fiber (PCF).
