Abstract
Wireless capsule endoscopy is a non-invasive test to diagnose gastrointestinal diseases, mainly in small intestinal pathology. The paper describes a new image compression algorithm which is suitable for wireless capsule endoscopic images. The compression scheme is based on Double Density Discrete Wavelet Transform (DD-DWT) and Set Partitioning in Hierarchical Trees (SPIHT) coding. Experimental results show that the proposed image compression scheme is better compared with traditional wavelet compression methods.
