Abstract
Retinals (RETs) and Carotenoids (CARs) are wide spread biochromophores in nature, which play key functions in the primary absorption of light and its transformation to chemical energy. Investigation of vibrational coherence in these two classes of chromophores is an important aspect in the elucidation of the internal dynamics of the electronic excited states. In this regard, not just the observation of high frequency modes, but also the determination of the respective dephasing process is fundamental.
