Abstract :
Broadband regular phased arrays can present strong edge effects, which leads to substantial differences between the element patterns. When a deterministic ing technique is used, these differences limit the quality of interference rejection. We analyze this effect with the help of a finite-by-infinite array approach. Two solutions, the addition of "dummy" elements and pattern calibration, are assessed for the case of an array devoted to radioastronomy applications.
