Abstract :
A parallel-plate waveguide filled with a homogeneous cold time-varying plasma is analyzed. A problem of excitation and propagation of the axially symmetric electromagnetic waves in such a waveguide is solved. To obtain a solution, the resolvent operator in the cylindrical coordinate system is built that allows an exact and explicit expression to be obtained for the electromagnetic field. Several examples of the step-type driving currents are considered. These results can be used for the validation and accuracy testing of FDTD and other numerical solutions to the transient problems.
