Abstract
In nowadays globalized business world, medium-sized enterprises can be global enterprises as well as large enterprises can. Despite being a global enterprise, medium-sized enterprises most often use non-integrated software solutions to run their business. Given the fact that medium-sized global enterprises are equally complex as large enterprises, they could benefit by introducing tailored business solutions. This contribution gives insight into the new hosted solution SAP Business By Designtrade for medium-sized enterprises gained from three pilot projects with medium-sized enterprises as partners from the industry. In this paper, we focus on the area of Supply Chain Management (SCM) and claim that optimizing the usage of Information Technology (IT) in medium-sized global enterprises can significantly improve company performance.
