Abstract :
This paper presents a new algorithm to correct the independent variables, such as generator voltages and transformer tap positions, in order to alleviate power system bus voltage violations. The algorithm is based on minimizing a weighted quadratic performance index. Different weighting factors are assigned to the active and reactive power mismatches, together with power system variables to form the quadratic performance index. Large weighting factors should be assigned to the violating variables in order to bring them back to their limits. The required corrections of the independent variables are found by minimizing this performance index. The simulation is carried out on IEEE 30 and 118 bus test systems. Simulation results demonstrate the ability of the algorithm to constraining voltage violations in the power flow solution
