Abstract
The massive worldwide demand in communication systems and the increasing trend towards employing higher data-rate transmission have resulted in an overcrowded frequency spectrum. Moreover, to provide additional channel capacity for future communication systems, the use of the millimeter region in the radio spectrum has to be taken into account. Our research has been devoted to implementing a link around 70 GHz. A Cassegrain antenna with an already known shaped subreflector geometry has been used. Even with this higher frequency range, both the classical double reflector system and the conformal hyperboloidal surface demonstrate their validity in reducing spillover and crosspolarization. A subreflector support design using a wedge diffraction technique has been used.
