Abstract :
This paper describes a novel method for a non-linear camera calibration. This method is based on genetic algorithms. Our motivation is to improve the accuracy of the calibration process. In our approach, the camera calibration is considered as an optimisation problem that is solved by the genetic algorithms. We show that the proposed technique correctly finds the near-optimal solution without the need of initial guesses. Results from our study are compared with another method based on the non-linear minimization with the Newton-Raphson algorithm.
