Abstract

This paper describes a new approach to solving jigsaw puzzles. This approach facilitates the notion of matching the shape and image of jigsaw puzzle pieces. It relies on human intelligence and knowledge retrieval of information by "looking" at a piece of a jigsaw puzzle. The method challenges the combinatorial and geometrical problem of solving jigsaw puzzles and can be used for further challenging 2D reconstruction of spatial pieces, such as broken glass or parts
