Abstract :
Welcome to the 2005 IEEE Workshop on Motion and Video Computing in Breckenridge, Colorado. The first Motion workshop was held in 1979, and this year´s workshop is a continuation of series of workshops dedicated to motion analysis, reflecting the growing number of challenges and interesting problems in this field within the computer vision community. Video analysis plays an important role in a vast range of applications, including entertainment, capturing collective memory, monitoring, scientific experiments, and many others. This workshop will bring together computer vision researchers working on motion, video analysis, video computing and related areas to share novel ideas and explore future directions and applications in video analysis. This year we have received nearly a hundred of papers. The format of the workshop allowed us to accommodate only 16 papers in the oral sessions, and 20 papers in the poster sessions. All papers have been allotted the same number of pages in the proceeding. Decision about oral or posters papers were based on several criteria including overall quality, originality, breadth of interest and suitability of the topic for poster or oral session. The submitted papers were sorted and distributed to the program committee members and a small set of selected reviewers for the double-blind review process. The program chairs avoided potential conflicts of interest, by allocating papers with conflicts to different subgroups. All the papers received three reviews, and complete anonymity of the authors was preserved throughout the entire process. Papers were accepted based on recommendations made by the reviewers.
