Abstract :
Mickey Mouse controls several brooms using a magic wand in a Disney movie. Can we control home appliances in a similar way? MagicWand makes this dream comes true. Using MagicWand, we can operate more than one home appliance by intuitive actions. MagicWand has two 3-axis accelerometers to detect a control target by just pointing and to recognize command actions which are classified into some intuitive attributes common to multiple home appliances. It generates the control commands and sends them to the targeted home appliances via Bluetooth. We have connected it with the home network appliance system ´FEMINITY™´ and realized actual operation of air conditioner, lights, and so on.
