  • Abstract
    We present a 1.3-/spl mu/m/1.5-/spl mu/m WDM optical transceiver for an FTTH system which enables 1.3-/spl mu/m bi-directional TCM transmissions for POTS and N-ISDN services and a simultaneous transmission of 1.5-/spl mu/m video distribution signals. This transceiver contains the following innovative component technologies to achieve the low-cost target; planar-lightwave-circuit (PLC) platform,- lensless coupling and passive alignment with PLC and a spot-size-converter-integrated laser diode (SS-LD) and two waveguide photodiodes (WG-PD), and a SC-compatible simplified optical connectors (receptacle).
