Abstract
In this piece of work, we look at integrating web services into application systems. Our goal was to develop a clearance application for Uganda Christian University (UCU) final year students and employ web services so that the web service (WS) takes on the security of all clearance information. This includes taking on the entire clearance logic role and providing encrypted messages to the requester of clearance information. The WS handles all the different stake holders´ information from their application views and the clearance results are combined together to provide the final clearance results to the academics office where the students get their transcript after graduation. The developed application and the web service were undertaken through a test to ensure that all the business rules and processes included in the system meet our goals of having secure data access, simplified and timely clearance, better security in accessing the system and the validated components. From the tests it is evident that the system is fast, more reliable, easy to use, secure and fully validated.
