Abstract :
A description is given of the AT&T Digital Access and Cross-Connect System II (DACS II), which provides cross-connection, test access, and digital signal processing functions for DS0 signals. Other key functions include facility and equipment maintenance with remote operations support. This is a second-generation DACS that uses a large nonblocking single-stage switch matrix and software control to reassign, process, and distribute up to 15360 individual DS0 channels in up to 640 T1 lines. In addition, any of the 640 DS1 ports can be reserved to provide digital test access for up to 12 DS0 channels at a time.<>
