Abstract :
The field of system integration features various approaches from the standardization of data structure to the development of universal exchange formats, but lacks a visualization as well as a superordinated structuring concept. Within the IMIP project a model-based system interconnection was developed that combines a star-shaped coupling architecture with a task-specific model framework. All systems of an enterprise are connected to the central data backbone via a modular interface. There the actual data exchange is carried out by the interplay of mapping and transformation engines. The information needed by them is divided task-specifically into eight model types. Together with the UML based meta-model oriented to interconnection tasks this approach shall improve usability and applicability and provide a stable basis for the integration of further research.
