Abstract :
This project will contribute in evaluating the reliability and validity of craniofacial anthropometry data acquisition using VECTRA-3D by a non-medical background examiner in respect to direct measurement done by a well-trained dentist. Eighteen (18) standard craniofacial linear distances were defined and performed directly on 20 normal adult respondents. The direct measurements were taken twice, in fifteen minutes one after another. Then, the respondents´ faces were photographed using Vectra3D photogrammetry system. Eighteen (18) standard craniofacial linear distances were measured on the digital images. We analyzed the data with paired t-test and calculated the ICC index. The t-test shows that four (4) measurements at orbital and one (1) measurement at nose are significant difference with p-value less than 0.05. The ICC indices also show poor correlation for these measurements with indices less than 0.300. Seven measurements have no significant difference with p-value > 0.05 and six measurement have significant difference but clinically not significant because the differences are less than 1 millimeter. We conclude that the measurements taken from the Vectra 3D system are valid and reliable and can clinically be used in taking the craniofacial anthropometry measurement.
