Abstract :
This paper presents an advanced DVB-C navigation system based on the premise that future TV sets will provide hundreds or even thousands of broadcast channels and many kinds of multimedia information and interactivities. Viewers will find it hard to do program selections. This paper describes a Chinese Academy of Sciences supported collaborative project called intelligent TV. We have demonstrated the potential of recent standards (MPEG-4, MHP and MPEG-7) to implement it by building the following services: an advanced electronic program guide (EPG), personal video recorder (PVR), and an embedded browser
