Abstract :
Owing to the changed transmission contents and quality requirements of the integrated services digital network´s (ISDN´s) basic access, the transmission performance of already existing metallic pairs has to be revaluated to ensure their usability. The main elements affected are transmission mode and line coding on twisted wires. The signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) of near- or far-end crosstalk is presented, and the Pe of transmission lines is also reevaluated under various conditions
