Abstract :
To limit the transmission losses, Main Transmission Lines (MTL) for high power LHCD systems are usually realized by moderately oversized circular waveguides transmitting the low losses TE°01 mode. Bends in smooth circular waveguides generate spurious modes that must be limited in number and amplitude to avoid potentially destructive damages deriving from their trapping into the MTL. Optimized bends and effective mode filters have been studied to reduce this risk.
