Abstract :
In mobile ad hoc networks, since nodes move around the network, the network topology and the number of neighboring nodes in each node frequently change. Although the number of neighboring nodes in each node and the distance between any two adjacent nodes always change, the transmission range of each node is not changed. Therefore, it is expected that many packet collisions among nodes occur and energy power of each node is uselessly consumed. This paper proposes an adaptive transmission power control scheme based on the autonomous clustering. The proposed scheme controls the transmission power of each node based on the estimated distance between the node and the neighboring nodes to have the specified neighboring node number. Moreover, it mitigates the occurrences of unidirectional links to perform the transmission power control by cluster unit thanks to the autonomous clustering. Finally, this paper conducts simulation experiments in the conditions where the node density dynamically changes to show the effectiveness adaptive to the variation of the node density.
