  • Abstract
    On-demand multicast is used on efficient delivery to multiple receivers requiring the same content or media asynchronously. This paper discusses cost efficient reliable on-demand multicast strategy involving access router support, which is designed to be used for mobile users in converged Internet infrastructures. State-of-the-art of on-demand multicast techniques and metrics for evaluation of the efficiency of multicast transport are overviewed. Design and implementation of a new reliable on-demand multicast strategy is presented and its retransmission costs are evaluated for different mobile multicast scenarios
