Abstract
The present work shows the first results obtained in the application of various intelligent techniques to the calculation of the water needs of many different cultivation types. The area in which these studies have been realised is the south-east of Spain. These results are part of a research project developed along with the CIDA (Centro de Investigacion y Desarrollo Agroalimentario). Its final goal is to develop a decision support system using many intelligent techniques in order to ease the optimization in the use of irrigation water and fertilizers. The access to the system is intended to be generic, through a Web-based platform
