Abstract
When it comes to diving and related exploits into the oceans of the world, most in the field can tell factual stories about where we´ve been, what´s being done at the moment, and what has been accomplished. Ask where we need to be five decades from now, on the other hand, and one often gets a blank stare. This paper presents a visionary approach to where, collectively, we ought to be, lists some of the issues still needing solution to reach such goals, and presents suggested ways to live the vision by the year 2050
