Abstract
Regarded as an revolution of future human competence development, serious game is rising in a wide range of fields like education, medicine, training, scenario simulation, publications, national defense and public-opinion poll, etc. During the production process of serious games, terrain data is a necessity and mainly made by artificiality. Some applications (like military training, fire-fighting exercises) call profound potential demands for real data. This paper puts up the principle of game design that integrates GIS engine with game engine, through which serious game can gain ability to query spatial information based on GIS functions. It is also discussed that how to apply existed GIS spatial data to serious game to make games more realistic.
