Abstract
The concept of software defined radio is presented. The key of the system is the A/D conversion close to the antenna as possible. Examined are the disturbances in the process of A/D conversion. The characteristics of the converters are explained with the main parameters and there interrelations. To digitize the band-pass signal the minimum requirements on the sampling rate is worked out. With the measured residual error the SNR in a real ADC is specified. Sometimes this specification is substituted with the effective number of bits
