Abstract
In this paper failures in travelling-wave tubes (TWTs) manufactured by Telecommunications Research Institute, Wroclaw Division, are examined by descriptive statistics as a typical tool and technique for quality improvement and the prevention or reduction of failures. Approximately two-thirds of the losses resulted from degradation of the vacuum environment in the tubes and an electrical break in the heater assembly in the "small" TWTs with power output in the watts range.
