Abstract
This paper describes the design of an integrated circuit consisting of a preamplifier with Sallen-Key Butterworth filter for direct interfacing to a high frequency ultrasonic transducer. This preamplifier was fabricated with the IBM 7WL process. Sallen-key filter is used to increase the gain of the front-end circuit. The measured voltage gain of one of the selected front end circuits for the preamplifier with Sallen-Key filter is 35.61dB at 100MHz with a bandwidth of 87.3% and 8.58mW DC power consumption. Pulse-echo responses and wire-phantom images with ultrasonic transducers have been acquired with the front end circuit.
