Abstract
In this paper we evaluate routing strategies for OBS networks taking as a base the MRDV routing protocol. This protocol allows to perform load-based dynamic routing and it also incorporates a hysteresis mechanism to account for sudden load shifts. In this paper, we consider two link metrics: load and blocking probability. The results show that load-based link metrics provide a smoother response of the routing protocol. Thus, a load-based approach for MRDV provides a viable routing protocol for OBS networks.
