Abstract :
The performance of Fourier based methods for the detection of frequency modulated signals is considered. In particular an adaptation of the fractional Fourier transform is compared to the conventional Fourier transform. The performance assessment focuses on the capability of the methods for detecting vocalisations; this analysis exploits measured data from a variety of cetacean species.
