Abstract :
Nowadays, one of the big issues on the Internet is botnet. It causes various problems such as information search and theft, denial of service attack, sending SPAM e-mail, and so on. This paper describes a methodology to capture malware and track botnets. We have developed our own honeypot system for capturing malware based on honeypot technology. Although there are some efforts for botnet monitoring, we have been improving and upgrading our monitoring system since Jan 2005. In addition, this paper mentions comparing between botnet activity and the data from fixed point Internet observation that is also unique system.
