Abstract :
This paper presents a virtual instrumentation architecture that was conceived by these authors to address specific issues of real-time data acquisition and remote processing in distributed environments for monitoring or C2 (command and control) applications. An object-oriented approach is considered to make full use of the state-of-the-art design and development techniques and technologies. An implementation based on Real-Time Java is considered to proving the architecture viability
