Abstract :
To a large extent, developing economies often rely upon agricultural exports in their economic development. The international trade of such products is heavily influenced by price and quality. The value and competitiveness of such products in the global market is also influenced by various value-added activities. As the nodal point along the supply chain, it is hypothesized that dry ports play significant roles by providing such value added activities. With such understanding, using the case of tea exports of India, this study investigates the precise role of dry ports in promoting exports of agricultural commodities of developing countries. It is believed that this study can provide an insight on the role of dry ports in agricultural-based economies, as well as how such role can enhance the global competitiveness of its locally-produced products.
