Abstract
Lateral displacement estimation based on curve fitting has systematic bias and high variance at boundary regions of ultrasonic images. To solve this problem, we have demonstrated a synthetic lateral phase algorithm using multi-dimensional FFT processing with complex computation. In this paper, we propose a complex finite impulse response (FIR) filter method to enable potential real-time implementation of the synthetic lateral phase algorithm. It shows 46% reduction of estimation variance in an in-vitro experiment with good computational efficiency.
