The performance of co-authorship network may impact significantly on the future development of those participants and fields concerned. However, a useful framework for evaluating the innovation performance of university co-authorship network has not yet emerged. In this paper, a preliminary framework, derived from elements of the social network analysis (SNA) literature and the social capital concerned literature, is established and then subsequently applied to two well-known university co-authorship networks for comparative study. Finally, this paper concludes with implications for management and future policy of university co-authorship network development.
