Abstract :
In this paper, a new high speed synchronization algorithm for ultra wideband (UWB) communication systems is developed. The proposed synchronization algorithm includes two successive stages, named acquisition and tracking ones. The real-time acquisition is realized by a new parallel searching algorithm, where four branches of Barker code matching is employed. By doing so, both the acquisition speed (convergence time) and accuracy (detection probability) are improved significantly. Moreover, an adaptive early-late tracking algorithm is proposed which can lock the pulse location into the true one with a rapid response. Combining these two schemes, the simulated synchronization algorithm can realize the acquisition time of less than 3 mus and tracking accuracy is within 0.02 ns for the pulse transmission rate up to 200 Msampls/s
