Abstract :
This paper investigates the transmission characteristics of an optical signal which is modulated by a RF signal using a zero biasing electro-absorption modulator (EAM). A passive picocell for high capacity and short range wireless networks has been investigated based on an unbiased EAM that acts as a passive transceiver at the remote site of the radio-over-fiber (ROF) link. Bias voltages of the EAM and bias currents of a distributed feedback (DFB) laser diode (LD) were varied for the evaluation of the optical power measurements
