Abstract
A nonlinear system represented by discrete state equations is analyzed in general terms in the vicinity of a critical point. The critical point considered is where the eigenvalue crosses the unit circle on the real axis at +1. Besides the generic case, two other cases are also considered. The general results are applied to analyze a nonlinear digital control system
