Abstract :
High-frequency plane-wave scattering by a rigid sphere is considered. The problem is used to examine applicability of a recently proposed approach to a rigid target. The technique is based on the locality property of shortwave scattering and yields an explicit formula for the surface pressure. It is more accurate than physical-optics (PO) approximation and requires about the same computational costs.
