Abstract :
Along with the huge growth of mobile devices in years we have seen a matching growth in interest for mobile applications. Location-aware applications are experiencing rapid growth for mobile devices. Unfortunately, most localization systems for mobile devices, such as GPS receivers, do not work well for indoor locations creating the need for the development of alternative technologies. Radiolocation from measurements of radio received signal strength (RSS) has demonstrated excellent accuracy, making it a leading candidate for commercial indoor radiolocation applications. However, the research for indoor RSS-based localization is not based on measurements of mobile handsets, but rather focuses on measurements from laptop computers or radio receivers at known heights and orientations.
