Abstract
This paper discusses the Voltage Sourced Converter (VSC) modeling process using the Laplace transform and the dq frame. The Laplace model is very appropriate because it enables to describe and expose VSC´s internal cross-couplings, allowing the design of suitable VSC current controllers. A new VSC Laplace model is developed as well as an adequate decoupled current controller. The converter high-frequency carrier signal is excluded from the modeling process. Results show that the Laplace model accurately describes the converter´s dynamic behavior exhibiting a good performance compared to the conventional, time-domain, electric model.
