Abstract
We generate the horizontally aligned arrays by use of optimized versions of guided growth procedures that use chemical vapor deposition on single crystal quartz substrates. These new procedures employ patterned lines of evaporated sub-monolayer films of iron as the catalyst, ethanol as the feed gas with a slight background of hydrogen, and air annealed ST-cut single crystal quartz wafers as the growth substrate.
