Abstract
Photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) can constitute a new class of optical sensors because of its diverse advantages. This paper presents a state-of-art of the PCF-based sensors. Next, theoretical computations of phase sensitivity of index-guiding PCF´s are also shown. They are insignificantly lower than adequate sensitivities of the conventional step-index fiber.
